You may remember the rather evil Frank Cleary from way back in season one episode "No Way of Telling." But did you know that he was portrayed by a Canadian indie musician?
Torquil Campbell of the (much more likable) indie rock band Stars played Frank Cleary on the show, and did a very convincing job of portraying a very scary, disturbed man. Torquil (or Torq, as he's more frequently called) has done a number of guest spots on various television shows, including
Sex and the City, and
Law and Order. He was also the voice of Bill the Badger on the animated TV series
Rupert.

However, Torq is better known for his success with the band Stars, in which he sings and plays both melodica and trumpet. The band has released 5 full length albums over the last decade, as well as a number of EPs. Their songs have been featured on shows like
The O.C.,
Degrassi: The Next Generation,
Gossip Girl and
Chuck. They have also appeared on both
Late Night with Conan O'Brien and
Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. You can hear one of the band's songs on YouTube
