Spotlight on Gordon Pinsent (Leo McGinty)

You probably remember Gordon Pinsent as Leo McGinty from Wind at My Back. But did you know that he's also starred in a wealth of other Canadian shows and movies?

On Wind at My Back, Pinsent played Leo, Maisey's grandfather and guardian, in seasons 2 and 3. Pinsent has had roles on The Red Green Show, Due South and Street Legal, and provided the voice of King Babar in the children's show Babar.

His movie credits include The Thomas Crown Affair, The Shipping News, and Sarah Polley's Away from Her.
He also gained notoriety for his dramatic reading of Justin Bieber's autobiography on Canadian comedy show This Hour Has 22 Minutes (you can see video here).

Pinsent is a Companion of the Order of Canada and a Fellow of The Royal Society of Canada.
He was married to fellow actor Charmion King until her death in 2007. King also had a role on Wind at My Back, portraying Daisy Whitney on several episodes of the show.
Currently, his voice can be heard on the show Babar and the Adventures of Babar, where he reprises in his role as King Babar. In 2012, he will appear in the TV movie Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town, which tells the story of Canadian humourist Stephen Leacock.

    He also was in Fallen Angel with Gary Sinese and Joly Richardson shown every Christmas. A very good story.
