The Man Behind the Music

Just as Anne Shirley’s words form some of the most memorable quotes, so too does the musical score of Anne of Green Gables form an emotional memory for the film’s viewers.  You can hear the first few bars of Anne’s theme music, written by composer Hagood Hardy, and be instantly transported back to the first time you saw Anne walking through the woods on her way to Hammond’s Mill.  As part of ‘music week’ at Sullivan Entertainment, here’s a look at the history of the man who created these lasting notes.

Radio Waves

The radio in the 1930’s was the number one national communication tool. Despire the many struggles during this era, the radio put people at ease. Besides providing relaxation, the radio was a way to stay in touch within any community. As for New Bedford, the community in Wind at My Back, their radio station, CRNB, was a powerful communication tool.
