Video Tribute to Jackie Burroughs

It seems fitting to pay tribute to the late Jackie Burroughs by remembering the depth she brought to the role of Hetty King on Road to Avonlea.  Armed with a deep understanding of her character’s emotions, Burroughs was often at the forefront of some of the most moving scenes in the series.

Kevin Sullivan recalls that Season Five’s “Memento Mori” is his favourite episode from the entire series.  In this episode, Hetty King relives moments from her childhood in the days leading up to her 50th birthday.  “Memento Mori” is a Latin phrase that means “remember your mortality”.

The video above is just one example of the great weight Burroughs brought to any scene she took on.

My heart is broken I love this show, and this is my favorite scene of the whole series. I'm glad they used this for tribute.

I am so saddened by the loss of Ms. Burroughs. She was truly a gifted actress and brought so much to the role of Hetty King. I will always have fond memories of watching the Avonlea series with my niece when she was a little girl and that's what it is all about-happy memories. Jackie/ Hetty...you will be missed.
