The couple begin their trip in Ottawa and will visit Parliament Hill on Canada Day (July 1).  Canadian Heritage Minister James Moore says he expects tens of thousands of people to show up and that this royal visit will be on a scale that Canada has never witnessed before – at least not since Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s visit in the 1980’s. 

“It’ll be, in fact, I think perhaps the largest Canada Day celebration in history,” Moore told The Star.

From Ottawa, the couple journeys to Montreal on July 2 and Quebec on the 3rd.  Then, their much-anticipated visit to P.E.I. will take place.  They plan to see both Charlottetown and Summerside.

From there, they travel to Yellowknife, in the Northwest Territories, and then will enjoy the opening of the Calgary Stampede, ending their trip on July 8.

Before the dates of their trip to P.E.I. were confirmed, the marketing director for P.E.I.’s Department of Tourism, Brenda Gallant, said it would not be hard at all to put together an Anne-related itinerary for Kate, including visits to Green Gables or meeting descendants of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s.

In fact, the island’s production of Anne of Green Gables at the Confederation Centre in Charlottetown opens on the day the Royal couple touches down in Canada.  Dan Wall, the publicist for the centre, feels they could set a few front row seats on short notice.  “We would be thrilled to have them and know they would enjoy it.”
