British Show Hints at Royal Tour Spots

There has been increased speculation over the places William and Kate will visit in Prince Edward Island ever since a British television crew was spotted filming on the island.  The crew of the British morning show, Daybreak, has been traveling to places they suspect the Duke and Duchess will visit during their visit on July 3-4.  These include Green Gables, Avonlea Village (pictured above), the Canadian Coast Guard auxiliary, Province House and Victoria Row.

Though these filming locations were chosen by the show, it may be a good hint as to what the Royal couple is most likely to see.  According to The Guardian, Daybreak, which is the British equivalent of Canada AM or Good Morning America, sent a producer, cameraman and host to map out where they believe the couple will go on the island as well as every other Canadian city on the tour.

Not only did the crew visit the locations, but they spoke to people in downtown Charlottetown about their thoughts on the upcoming visit, as well as filmed on a real lobster boat to show the British people a taste of the fishing industry.

They also featured the Canadian Coast Guard auxiliary because William and Kate requested that donations be made to that organization instead of giving them gifts at their wedding.

But even if Daybreak ends up being off-base with their predictions, it’s still great publicity for the island.  Barbara Gallant, the marketing director with the P.E.I. Department of Tourism, said the show has painted a picture of the island for tourists.

“We were ecstatic when we got the call from them,” she says. “When you look at the U.K. market — and the U.K. market is one of the markets that we reach out to — it’s near impossible to get any kind of exposure on a show like that on a regular year.”

We will keep you updated on the couple’s plans once they become known!
