Though he was up against some stiff competition, it comes as no surprise that the winner of our Ultimate Classical Hero contest, Gilbert Blythe, is the soul mate of your favourite heroine, Anne Shirley! With a total of 1,381 total votes over the past four weeks - in comparison to the first runner-up, Mr. Darcy (who had a total of 855 votes) - Gilbert won by a considerable margin!

Also, the man who would have been Gilbert’s father-in-law, Matthew Cuthbert, placed a close third. There was a great showing of support for all the other contestants, as can be seen in the chart below. So thank you to all who voted! You made this an exciting and worthwhile race.

And now we’d like to announce the winner of Week Four’s final prize pack: Carolien Fornasari! Carolien happens to be an active member on our Facebook page and AnneOfGreenGables.com and we are happy to give her the following prizes: Anne of Green Gables (Widescreen) DVD, Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story Soundtrack, Under the Piano DVD and Diana: A Life to Remember DVD.

Oh I'm so happy that Gilbert won the contest and I'm so excited about having won the wonderful prizes!!!! thank you a hundred times!! I'm the biggest italian fan of Anne of Green Gables!! I just love Anne and Gilbert!
