Interview: How to Find Anne Apparel

Recently, we posted a fantastic collection of Anne-themed fashion pieces that are currently in style.  This selection of apparel, hats and accessories was put together by Hilary Kearney, the writer behind the blog If Zombies Were Supermodels, We'd Be Them.  We interviewed Hilary and she was nice enough to explain how she collects these pieces that are “so Green Gables”, as well as provide tips on how to find them yourself!

Anne's Own Fashion Week

Anne Shirley yearned to be stylish and revelled in the glamorous outfits she was able to wear every so often while living at Green Gables – even if it meant her sleeves were so large she would have to “turn sideways to get through the doors”, as Marilla said.  Once Anne became a little older and more independent, she made a concentrated effort to wear clothing and accessories that made her feel pretty.

Imaginative and romantic Anne

Any female fan of Anne of Green Gables has, at some point, wished for her very own Gilbert Blythe: a strong, loyal young man who will stay with her through thick and thin. Strangely enough, Gilbert’s love affair with Anne started when he called her “Carrots” and got a slate smashed over his head in return. From that moment on, Gilbert was smitten with the feisty, red – haired orphan but his affections were not easily… or quickly… returned.

High Fashion at Green Gables

Megan Follows (Anne Shirley) and Colleen Dewhurst (Marilla Cuthbert) did such an authentic job of portraying women at the beginning of the 20th century, you would never have guessed that both actresses really disliked wearing Victorian corsets under their dresses.
