A large part of the visual appeal of “Road to Avonlea” is the beautiful, pastoral scenery that spans all four seasons. However, capturing all of these exterior vistas on film definitely presented some challenges while dealing with the unpredictable Southern Ontario weather.
First Hungarian Avonlea Convention A Great Success!
On February 18th, 2012 the first ever Road to Avonlea Convention (Avcon) was held in Hungary. Organized by Zsolt Kozak, an avid Avonlea fan that has attended several Avcon's in Canada, the event featured appearances from Hungarian actors that provided voices for several of the main characters and much more.
There's no shortage of love and romance on Road to Avonlea, and since it’s Valentine’s Day, I thought I would do my own top 10 list of romantic Avonlea moments.
Everyone knows that the opening sequence of Road to Avonlea: Season One is a wonderful montage of the King children running through the beautiful beaches and farmland of Prince Edward Island. However, what you may not know is that photo doubles were used instead of the actual cast members in many of the opening sequence shots as well as in the show itself.

Yesterday, we posted the first chapter of “Return to Avonlea” – a script written by one of our very own fans, Hannah. She has placed the characters of Avonlea ten years after An Avonlea Christmas and envisions her story as a miniseries, similar in length to the first two Anne films. Here is Part 2, entitled “The New Schoolmaster”.
When we told Road to Avonlea fans that we’d love to hear their thoughts on what would have happened to the characters after the cameras stopped rolling, we expected a number of opinions. But I was completely blown away when one of our fans sent me a 135-page script, called “Return to Avonlea”, which reads like a novel.
