STEP-BY-STEP: A BEGINNER'S GUIDE CONTINUED...

3) Alden’s got plenty to say. "How am I? Beat! I didn’t get any sleep last night. Now listen, Grace, here’s the scoopthere was a Bank Robbery last night!" As the text appears in the Response Window you will hear a BING sound. This means that you have received something new.

You’ll notice that SLEEP and BANK ROBBERY are bold; this means they are keywords. They are now in your Keyword Inventory and you can, from this point on, ask any character about these keywords. And don’t forget to ask Alden about the keywords he’s just given you; he might give you more information. Try it and see what happens!

4) Ready to move on? To view the map again, click on the red arrow at the top right of your screen to pull it down. Click on the location you would like to visit. Let’s go to the Hallway of the Bailey House! (house icon 10)

5) When you arrive, you will see (in your Video Monitor) a boy standing in the Bailey House Hallway. It’s your nephew, Fat.
Go ahead and ask him about your keywords. Remember, just click on the keyword in your keyword Inventory. "How are you?"

Look at the video window! His response appears as text in the Response Window, but (if video is turned on) Fat also has a video response. You will also hear a BING, telling you that you have received something.

You can control the video (pause, rewind, fast forward) using the gray Control Bar at the bottom of the Video Monitor. If you’d like to stop the video, click on the red Close Video button on the Video Monitor. This will stop that video from downloading but won’t change any of your video settings. To play the video again, ask Fat the keyword again.

Most characters have video responses so be sure to ask around. And rememberalways ask a character about the keyword or item they’ve just given you, or you might miss something! In fact, Fat will give you an important assignment; as if you haven’t got enough to do today!
